A baby delivery can be possible in two ways: Normal delivery or Cesarean Delivery. Normal Delivery is giving birth vaginally, whereas cesarean delivery involves surgical method to give birth to the baby. Cesarean Section is mainly conducted when normal delivery process is not possible.
Cesarean Section or C-section delivery can be either planned or decided by the doctor during the delivery process. If your doctor already finds some complication for a vaginal birth during your pregnancy, he/she will discuss with you and then plan and schedule the operation.
For some cases, during the delivery, patients are unable to deliver the baby through vagina. This can be a result of complications occurred at that time. Therefore, doctor can immediately decide to go for a c-section delivery process as it can be beneficial for both baby and the mother. Although, serious complications are rare during labor and delivery, but some of the common ones include fetal meconium, abnormal fetal heart rate, and abnormal fetal position.
A C-section delivery operation requires some preparations from the doctors side as it includes surgical method, so it requires time. Planned C-sections can begin on time. Initially, patients will be sedated with anesthesia.
Once anesthesia has taken affect, the procedure will start. Surgeons will make a cut in the lower abdomen to create an opening in the uterus. Another opening will be made in the amniotic sac (water bag). The baby will be delivered through this opening. Patients may feel some pressure or pulling sensation during the procedure.
After the baby delivery process, surgeon will stitch up your uterus, followed by stitching up the cut in the abdominal region. Patients may experience some vaginal bleeding after C-section operation.
Women who have undergone C-section delivery, require compulsory rest for at-least 30 days. Failing to do so, can create future health problems in them. Doctor can advice them to avoid certain activities that can put a strain on their abdomen. Both pregnancy period and post-delivery period requires equal special care for the mothers.
