Cataract (Multifocal Lens) Surgery in Ahmedabad

Cataract surgery done using implant of multifocal intra-ocular lenses, provides clear up and close distance vision to the person undergoing surgery. A multifocal lens is divided into 2 parts - one which focuses on near distance and the other that focuses on a long distance. • Genetic factor - Due to family history, babies are likely to develop cataract at birth too.

• Obesity - Obese and over-weight people are at a higher risk of developing cataracts. A higher weight, increases blood pressure, which affects the blood vessels present in eyes and this leads to a plethora of vision issues other than cataract.
• Vitrectomy - Viterctomy is a procedure done for removing the vitreous gel present in the middle of eyes for accessing the retina. People who have undergone this surgery are known to be at a higher risk of acquiring cataracts.
• Injuries of eyes - Even though cataracts happening due to injury in adults is a very rare thing, cataract formation due to injuries is common among children.
• Vitamin deficiency - Deficiency of certain vitamins like vitamin E & C in your daily diet are likelier to make you a victim of cataract.
• Anti-depressants - Medicines that are prescribed to people suffering from depression and mental disorders are also prone to initiate formation of cataract.
