An inguinal hernia is caused when tissues in groin muscles push ahead causing groin protrusion.

Hernias do not go away on their own and there is no other option besides surgery. Before the surgery, a general anesthesia is injected into the patient. A laparascope is used for examining the hernia and inner tissues of abdomen and so the surgery is also termed as keyhole surgery. For insertion of laparoscope, small incisions are then drilled on the abdominal area. The inguinal hernia is repaired through inserting surgical instruments passed inside the body by way of the incisions. After that, a wired mesh is pressed over the hernia, keeping it in place through staples. • Bilateral hernia - The presence of a bilateral hernia i.e. hernia that develops on both sides of pubic bone, necessitates a laparoscopic inguinal surgery.
• Symptoms - Symptoms like pain experienced during bending down, laughing, coughing or lifting heavy materials also necessitate a laparoscopic inguinal procedure.
• Lumps in groin - Lump formation in groin that are very painful, indicate that surgery is required for repairing of hernia.
