Inguinal Hernia Surgery in Lucknow

There are three layers of tissues that protect the intestine. First layer is a thin membrane called the peritoneum. The second layer is made up of abdominal muscular tissues, and the third layer is your skin.

An inguinal hernia happens when your intestines and the peritoneum push through the muscles and bulge out under your skin. Inguinal hernias are dangerous as they tend to grow larger and larger. Your intestine gets trapped inside the bulge losing blood supply. This condition is called as a strangulated inguinal hernia. Medical surgery is required to fix and correct this problem.

There are two types of Inguinal Hernia:

Indirect Inguinal Hernia

This is a common type of hernia. It is more common in men. This is because the testicle in males starts inside the abdomen and goes down through an opening in the groin region to reach the scrotum. If this opening does not close at birth, a hernia develops. Women can get hernia because of the weak abdominal muscles.

Direct Inguinal Hernia

This type of hernia is seen more in adults. It is caused due to weakened abdominal muscles caused due to aging. Direct Inguinal Hernia occurs only in men.

In Laparoscopic Inguinal Surgery, few incisions are made. A thin, tiny scope with a camera is inserted inside your abdomen. Sometimes, surgeons can also use a synthetic mesh along with a laparoscope, during the surgery. Recovery is quicker than other traditional methods.

Symptoms that show the presence of hernia are:

• A bulge that increases in size when you strain and disappears when you lie down
• Sudden pain in your groin or scrotum when you strain
• Weakness
• Pressure and burning in your groin or scrotum
