Kidney dialysis is usually given to patients 3 times a week. Before a dialysis session starts, the urologist has to create a point of access somewhere on your skin. The point enables him to take out blood and then put it back after filtering it. The doctor connects a vein in your arm to a tube like filter. The blood thereafter gets removed through dialyzer from the body. After cleansing the blood of all the toxin wastes and liquids, it is put back into the body. • Blood tests - Blood tests for keeping a tab on salts, fluids and wastes in blood is necessary.

• Weight and blood pressure - Weight and blood pressure measured before and after every session is helpful to know how the body is responding to the dialysis.
• Urea and creatinine levels - Blood tests that measure creatinine and urea levels present in one's body are also markers of understanding effectiveness of dialysis.
• Kt/V - V is the volume of water in one's body and Kt is the level of fluid cleared of urea during every session of dialysis. Figures of both these constraints provides an accurate answer to the urologist regarding effectiveness of dialysis sessions.
